Q.C Laboratory Cleaning SOP
1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To
describe the procedure for cleaning of Q.C laboratory.
2.0 SCOPE:
This
procedure is applicable to clean all areas of the Q.C laboratory.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

5.0 MATERIAL AND
EQUIPMENT:
5.1
Waste bin/ dust
bin.
5.2
Wiper.
5.3
Mop.
5.4
Sponge.
5.5
Clean cotton
cloth.
5.6
Methanol.
5.7
Liquid soap &
detergent.
5.8
Disinfectant
solution.
5.9
Glass cleaning
agent.

Purified water.
6.0 PROCEDURE:
6.1 Daily cleaning:
6.1.1
Remove the scrap/
waste, such as paper pieces, cotton wastes, etc from the area. Collect them in
waste bins. Put the waste at designated area or “SCRAP OUT AREA” and send it to
scrap yard.
6.1.2
Clean the floor
with the wipers, mops, using liquid soap. Disinfect with prescribed
disinfectant solution.
6.1.3
Clean the doors,
windows, venetian blinds and glass pans with glass cleaning agent by using
sponge or cloth duster.
6.1.4
Clean all the
reagents bottles & shelves with clean cotton cloth.
6.1.5
Clean all
instruments with dry clean cotton cloth.
6.1.6
Clean the working
tables with available detergent solution followed by water.
6.1.7
Remove any spot or
stains with methanol. (Wear safety hand gloves while handling methanol).
6.1.8
In case of
spillage stop the activity. Clean the spillage & resume the activity.
6.1.9
Clean the drains
thoroughly by flushing water and decontaminate with the disinfectant solution
on rotation basis.
6.1.10
Frequency:
Daily
morning andwhen required during the activity.
6.2 Weekly cleaning:
6.2.1
Clean the waste
bins with detergents & scrubber. Flush with water and dry them.
6.2.2
Clean the walls
and ceiling with the help of moist duster or nylon brush attached at the end of
vacuum pipe of the vacuum cleaner, once in a week.
6.2.3
If any spots or
stains remain on the wall clean the same with diluted soap solution.
6.2.4
Collect the
accumulated dust into a dustbin and transfer it to the scrap area.
6.3 Record:
6.3.1
A record of
cleaning activity i.e. daily, weekly is maintained by user dept.
6.4 Cleaning and
disinfectant agents:
6.4.1
Use freshly
diluted detergents and disinfectant solutions, do not store them and maintain
the preparation record.
6.4.2
Use 2.5% Dettol
solution for hand disinfection purposes.
