 Safety In Quality Control SOPs

 

1.0  OBJECTIVE:

To provide the general guideline to be followed in Q.C dept. for safety purposes.

2.0  SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable for all chemists working in Q.C laboratory.

3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1  Doing: Technical Assistant.

3.2  Checking: Executive/ Manager.

4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:

4.1  Head of the Q.C Department.

5.0  PROCEDURE:

5.1  Follow safety guideline provide by the company.

5.2  Follow the instruction given by Head of the Department time to time.

5.3  Wear gown as per SOP before entering to Q.C laboratory.

5.4  Wear protective garments like mask, gloves goggles, cartridge filter mask where require while performing critical hazardous test. Refer MSDS of related chemical or solvents where require.

5.5  While working on instruments/ follow the operating instruction as peer SOP for the instruments.

5.6  Read the label before opening the any container.

5.7  Open the container of hazardous chemicals carefully in fuming hood.

5.8  Take precaution whole extracting and using hazardous chemicals.

5.9  Avoid use of contaminated apparatus and instrument.

5.10          Seal the container tightly after use.

5.11          All the instruments are properly earthed.

5.12          If any spark is observed in the electrical connection, the power supply of electrical connection should be disconnected immediately and the same should be brought to the notice of Q.C Manager, EHS Manager & Engineering Manager.

5.13          Do not use any broken glassware.

5.14          Sharp edge materials like blade/ knives are to be used with adequate precaution.

5.15          Spillage of solvent/ chemicals/ acids on the floor should be cleaned immediately.

5.16          Waste disposal should be done as per SOP.

5.17          Safety shower is to be provided in Q.C laboratory.

5.18          During handling & using of chemicals do not eat or drink anything.

5.19          Wash the hands properly after handling and testing of chemicals.

5.20          Take precaution for the cleaning of any spillage with method appropriate, to hazardous chemicals.

5.21          Seek medical attention immediately if affected by chemicals and use appropriate first aid until medical attention is available.

5.22          Store the chemicals and solvents at specified temp. mentioned on label.

5.23          Place back the poisonous chemical under lock & key immediately after its use.
