SOP
for operation of biological air sampler is described
in this post which you can follow in the section of microbiological lab.
Objective:
This procedure has been established for operation of biological air sampler for viable monitoring of sterile manufacturing area and testing area i.e.
(microbiology lab)
Scope:
This
procedure is applicable to microbiology lab.
Responsibility:
Microbiologist.
Accountability:
Quality
Control
Manager.
Procedure:
Press ON/OFF button to switch "ON" the biological air sampler.
Hold the START button. The display will start to count down the time.
Time can be changed by increasing or decreasing from 5 minutes up to one hour.
Ensure nutrient agar media plates are at room temperature before starting the test.
Remove the micro-perforated sieve from the head.
Ensure the sieve is sanitized. Sanitize the external surfaces of the biological air sampler with 70% IPA.
Position the agar plate into the recessed area of the sampler head.
Lock the micro-perforated sieve into position.
Set the sampling parameters and then quickly press the START button twice.
The display will flash then the unit will start.
after sampling unlock and remove the sieve and put the lid back on the agar plate
To remove the agar plate from the sampler head, lift the agar plate while firmly holding the edge.
Label and incubate the agar plate at the end of sampling.
Precautions
Do not use oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide or peracetic acid when cleaning the air sampler.
Do not autoclave or flame the entire equipment. The stainless steel micro-perforated sieve can be autoclaved without its cover.
Use specified battery type. Using another type may reduce the number of tests, and the volume of air processed during 5 last sampling cycles will not be guaranteed.
